Midnight Yell and the Aggie War Hymn: A Tradition Like No Other
Few schools have a pre-game tradition as electric as Midnight Yell. Every Friday night before a home game, Aggies gather by the thousands at Kyle Field to practice their yells, tell stories, and—of course—sing the Aggie War Hymn. The event is part pep rally, part performance, and entirely Aggie.
The War Hymn takes center stage during this raucous celebration. As the band strikes up the opening chords, the crowd explodes with energy, locking arms and swaying in unison as they prepare to “saw Varsity’s horns off.” The atmosphere is electric, with each yell History of the Aggie Bar Fight Song and note building anticipation for the next day’s game. Even alumni and out-of-towners make it a point to attend Midnight Yell, because for many, it’s the highlight of the weekend.
